Understanding AIB International Ratings

AIB Rating

What They Are; Why They Matter

Price often drives the buying decision when it comes to thermal labels and water-activated tape.

At OMNI Systems, we understand that—and we offer the absolute lowest prices on a full range of thermal labels and labeling products—guaranteed.

But to truly optimize your label spend, you as an end-user consumer of thermal labels need assurance that the labels you order are of the highest quality, and produced in facilities that are certifiably superior.

At OMNI Systems, we are proud to say we are perennial recipients of a Superior Rating from AIB International, which tests all aspects of a manufacturer’s quality control systems and processes—from raw materials and storage, to equipment testing and finished product viability.

As background, AIB International (formerly the American Institute for Baking) is a pioneer and leader in food safety auditing and education. It was founded more than 60 years ago and since then has grown into one of the world’s foremost training organizations on food safety, setting standards for quality and safety.

AIB inspections and audits are conducted in more than 10,000 facilities in 120 countries by 130 highly trained and qualified, full-time field staff. Companies can opt to undertake the process yearly in order to ensure that their facilities and processes uphold product integrity and comply with good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

For AIB inspections, AIB Consolidated Standards consist of five categories, and each is allocated 200 points for scoring purposes, to a total of 1,000 points. A passing score is 700 and above. Facilities scoring in the top 25 percent of all scores for their business category are awarded a Recognition of High Achievement – Superior.

As the leaders in price, quality and service, OMNI Systems works with some of the world’s largest and most prominent food brands. For these customers, it’s highly assuring – essential even – that an objective, expert third-party organization like AIB certify that OMNI’s food safety practices conform to its rigorous inspection standards—and do so with a superior rating. After all, food manufacturing and distribution is a highly regulated industry; contamination at any point in the supply chain – including labels – can have significantly negative impacts on consumers and manufacturers alike. At OMNI Systems, we have participated in the AIB inspection process for the past nine years and received a Superior Rating each of those nine years. We look forward to continuing this process to ensure our leadership in quality for years to come.

We hope this blog highlights how quality ratings like AIB help distinguish the industry’s true leaders in direct thermal labels, thermal transfer labels, water-activated tape and other labeling products and services. We welcome the opportunity to discuss how OMNI’s leadership in price, quality and service can help you save 15-40% on your label spend over current costs and make your job easier.
